Mount Sinabung in North Sumatera Erupted




Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - Mount Sinabung (2.460 meters above sea level) located in Tanah Karo district, North Sumatra province erupted early Sunday at about 12:15 am Western Indonesia Standard time.

"Residents living surrounding the mountain have been evacuated towards the district town of Kabanjahe along with their belongings," the Sukanalu village chief, Naman Sub-District, Paten Sitepu, Sunday.

Earlier on Friday (Aug 27) some residents in Naman sub-district saw the smog containing sulfuric materials out of the Mount Sinabung. There was no immediate information on casualties or material loss made available so far.
