Tanah Karo, Indonesia (News Today) - Mount Sinabung located in Tanah Karo regency, North Sumatra finally erupted at 12.15 a.m. local time, on Sunday. Thousands of local people went through the dark night with any clothes worn to escape from hot lava spewed from the crater.
Local people left their houses to join evacuation. In Bekrah village, Namtran district, 90 head of families left their houses and none of them chose to stay except Naik Sembiring (37), head of the village.
According to him, the eruption panicked the residents so they decided to join evacuation. His wife and their two children went to a safer place in Kaban Jahe.
"My wife and children also joined the evacuation," said him to Tribun Medan.
The priest of GPdI said he had to stay as he took a responsibility for taking care of residents' houses safety.
"What else left for me to do, as long as my family is safe."
Naik Sembiring said that in accordance with a history descended from his ancestors, the eruption last occurred in the year 1400. No wonder, according to him, they were not suspicious that the mount would erupt today.
