Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - The rupiah weakened against the US dollar in the Jakarta interbank spot market here Friday morning. The Indonesian currency traded Rp9,002-Rp9,015 per US dollar, down 53 points from Rp8,949-Rp9,039 per US dollar at the market’s close a day earlier.The local unit has tended to weaken over the past few days because there had been no significant factor which could boost the currency, Hendri Effendi, a money market analyst of City Securities, said here Friday. However, he believed that the rupiah was still within the safe level because Bank Indonesia (BI) was still guarding the local unit.
