How Seriously Police Will Investigate Gayus' Alleged Trip to Singapore

Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - The Indonesian police will check an allegation that Gayus HP Tambunan has reportedly made a trip to Singapore, a police spokesman said.

"We will study the existing documents and welcome inputs coming from the public," Jakarta Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar said here on Monday.

Boy Rafli made the statement in response to a letter published in the readers’ forum of a newspaper in Jakarta on Monday. "We basically accept the input and need to make an effort to find out whether it is true or not."

A reader of the newspaper said she had seen Gayus aboard an Air Asia flight to Singapore in September last year while he was supposed to be in prison. "Police will investigate it and those who breach the rules will be acted upon," Boy said.

Earlier, Gayus also left the detention house of the Mobile Brigade Police on Nov. 5, 2010 and did not return to his cell that night. He should have come back by afternoon. Two police personnel who guarded him said that Gayus happened to go to his house in Kelapa Gading. Police than picked Gayus at his Kelapa Gading house last Nov.6.
