Bandung, Indonesia (News Today) - Padjadjaran University (Unpad) spokesperson has clarified the police questioning of three Unpad students in connection with three sex-tape scandal celebrities.
Weni Widyowati told ANTARA here Monday that the university`s clarification was needed to respond to mass media reports about the students` alleged involvement in this hot issue.
"We just wish to put the students` position and alleged involvement in the porn video scandal in a proportionate manner," she said.
Widyowati said the students were just questioned by the Sumedang police in connection with the case over the weekend.
The students, identified as Dicky Permana, Rudi Febriyanto, and Angga Eka Hanizar were questioned as witnesses.
"The police had released them on Saturday night because they were just questioned in connection with the case," she said.
The students were reportedly arrested at their rented houses in Hegarmanah village, Jatinangor sub-district, West Java, early on Saturday, for allegedly uploading the controversial videos.
The scandal involving pop singer "Ariel Peterpan", actress-host Luna Maya and model Cut Tari has not only attracted the attention of the Indonesian public and media but also some British newspapers.
Ariel himself was named a suspect in the case and detained by the police.The British newspapers reported that Ariel was facing a 12-year jail sentence if found having violated the anti-pornography law.
The police had arrested a man believed to be the first up-loader of the sex tape into the Internet. The police identified him as merely RJ.
"The suspect, RJ, is a recording technician for certain musicians," the head of the National Police`s public relations division, Inspector General Edward Aritonang, said.
In connection with the case, the Commission for Children`s Protection (KPAI) had recently called on the police to settle the porn video scandal soon by bringing those responsible to justice.
