Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - Indonesia's economic growth will likely accelerate to 6% on-year in the second half of this year, boosting full-year growth to the upper end of the government's forecast range, the finance minister said Thursday.
“We see first half growth of around 5.8%... and 6% in the second half, partly helped by improvements in exports,“ Agus Martowardojo told reporters.
“Therefore, we see the full year growth reaching around 5.9%,“ he added.
The full-year growth projection is at the higher-end of the government's forecast range of 5.5-6%. The economy grew by 4.5% in 2009.
Growth in Southeast Asia's biggest economy is mainly driven by domestic consumption, which contributes about 60%, while exports contribute around 25-30% to the gross domestic product.
The economy expanded by 5.7% in the first quarter from a year ago. Data on second-quarter growth will be published next month.
