Three Names for Telkom President Directorship Selected

Jakarta (News Today) - The State Enterprises Ministry has selected three directors of state telecommunications operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) as nominees for the company’s president directorship.

"We have submitted the three names to the final evaluating team (TPA) for further selection," State Enterprises Minister Mustafa Abubakar said after a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI at the parliament building here on Monday.

All the three nominees came from the company, he said. Telkom is expected to hold a general shareholders meeting on June 11 to agree on the company’s financial statement and replace the board of directors. Mustafa said the ministry had finished evaluating the performance of the company and its directors.

"The results of the evaluation will serve as the basis to evaluate the nominees who will sit in the board of directors." But he stopped short of revealing the names of the three nominees. "Let’s wait for the results of evaluation conducted by the TPA," he said.

Mustafa said the nominees for the post of PT Telkom president director would be known prior to the general shareholders meeting. Rumors had it that Arief Yahya, PT Telkom enterprise and wholesale director, and Ermady Dahlan, the company’s network and solution director, are among those widely tipped to fill the company’s top post.

Telkom is one of the state firms contributing the greatest chunk of revenues to the state coffers. Last year the company posted a net profit of Rp11.3 trillion, up 6.7 percent from a year earlier.
