(News Today) - Indonesia remains alert against the Greek financial crisis although its economic fundamentals are relatively strong, a minister said.
"The world economy is improving but we have to maintain cautiousness against risks that could arise as a result of the financial crisis in Greece," Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said when he receive US Trade Minister Gary Locke on Tuesday.
He said although Indonesia’s macroeconomic fundamentals which are in good condition and stable, are able to protect the country from the impact of if the financial crisis in Greece is worsening.
"But we have to keep abreast of the developments of the Greek crisis and be ready to take appropriate steps," the minister said on Tuesday.
At present, the Indonesian government is still focusing on its agenda on its comprehensive reforms program. In the meantime Locke noted that Indonesia was a key partner for US firms which were ready to compete in the Asian region to obtain mutual benefit.
