JAKARTA, (News Terupdate) - An alcohol beverage producer in North Sulawesi reportedly used the picture and the name of vocalist of rock Band Slank, Kaka, on its liquor bottles, without the singer’s permission.
“He was never in any contract. And the worst part is there are photos and Kaka’s name on the flat-shaped liquor bottle,” Kaka’s legal representative Riri Purbasari said, as quoted by kapanlagi.com.
The 47-percent liquor, branded Cawan Mas, is only distributed in Manado.
“Many people complained, as they thought Kaka had endorsed the drink. Mostly Slankers called [to complain]. We are going to coordinate with Slank’s management,” she said, referring to the moniker for Slank’s fans.
Members of Slank, who admitted taking drugs for years, declared they were drug-free in 2001, after an expensive and intensive rehab treatment and now encourage fans to shun drugs.
Band members from Slank are renowned for taking a strong stance against corruption, especially through their lyrics, which have caused a few members of the House of Representatives to see red.
