(News Terupdate) - The South Jakarta District Court found former South Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Wiliardi Wizard guilty of involvement in the murder of state company director Nasruddin Zulkarnaen Thursday and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
The verdict is more lenient than the death sentence sought by the state prosecutors, but Wiliardi’s lawyers said they would consider an appeal, saying their client was the victim of a conspiracy.
Reading out the verdict, presiding judge Artha Theresia said Wiliardi was convincingly proved to have misused his authority, provided the opportunity and conspired to commit a murder.
The same court will hand down verdicts on former anticorruption commission leader Antasari Azhar, businessman Sigid Haryo Wibisono and Jerry Hermawan Lo today.
