Strong quake shakes Bali, stirs panic




(News Terupdate) - An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale jolts Nusa Dua Island in Bali in the early hours of Friday, causing panic across the province. There was no immediate report of injuries or damages.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency recorded that the quake struck 210 kilometers off coast southwest of Nusa Dua, at 10 kilometers beneath the surface, at 2:43 a.m. local time.

Antara news agency reported the the quake was felt in Denpasar on Bali Island and adjacent island of Lombok.

Ana, a resident of Monang Maning housing complex in Denpasar said that many people in the area got off their beds and ran out their houses when the quake hit.

In September last year, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake also jolted the resort island on, causing several injuries and damages.
