"The police are now completing the dossiers of Gayus’s cases of gratification and money laundering," National Police public relations division chief Senior Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar said here on Thursday.
The activity is expected to finish before the end of this month. He said the police would follow up the dossiers of Gayus’s cases of gratification and money laundering that involved Rp28 billion worth of funds and another one that involved Rp74 billion separately.
"The dossiers of the case of gratification and Rp74 billion money laundering has not yet been submitted to the prosecutor’s office," he said.
The case of tax evasion conspiracy is linked to tax returns from 151 companies handled by Gayus. Gayus has been involved in various cases including corruption for which he was sentenced to seven years in jail on Wednesday.
The other are gratification and money laundering involving Rp28 billion worth of funds and another gratification and money laundering involving Rp74 billion worth of funds. Gayus is also involved in a bribery case and passport forgery. Gayus while in the remand police detention cell had allegedly bribed detention center officers to leave the cell for visiting Bali and some other places abroad.
His case has drawn a lot of attention from the nation because of the web of involvement that extends to law enforcement officials. The chief of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Sutanto, meanwhile said that Gayus was fabricating when he told about the role of a CIA agent in the tax fraud conspiracy that involved him.
"Do not believe in fabricated stories," said him at the presidential office on Thursday evening.
When asked to reaffirm if Gayus’s statement about the CIA agent was not true Sutanto said no. However he said that the police had an authority to continue to investigate it.
Sutanto did not tell if BIN had already checked the truth of Gayus’s statement. He said the task force for eradication of judicial mafia and the police could conduct further efforts.
Gayus had said that John Jerome Grice who had made false passpors for him and his wife to make them able to go abroad while Gayus should have been in a detention cell was a CIA agent. Gayus after being convicted on Wednesday said that the task force was aware of John Jerome.
He also expressed disappointment towards the task force which he accused of having caused the mess. The task force had denied the accusations.
"Basically we have the information, data to show that there is nothing like what Gayus has said," task force secretary Denny Indrayana had said.
He had also denied knowing John Jerome as a CIA agent. Justice minister Patrialis Akbar meanwhile said John Jerome had been abroad and was no longer in Indonesia.
"According to the immigration office’s monitoring John Herome Grice is not in Indonesia," he said.
Patrialis said John Jerome had left Indonesia several months ago through Soekarno-Hatta airport.
