The Only Goal Ensuring Indonesia's Ticket to Final

Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - Indonesia would meet with Malaysia in the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup’s final after defeating the Philippines team in the second leg of semifinal at Bung Karno soccer stadium here Sunday evening. The only goal that ensured Indonesia’s victory was made by Christian Gonzales, naturalized Indonesian striker.

In the first leg, Indonesia also defeated the Philippines with one goal also scored by Gonzales. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono watched the spectacular game along with tens of thousands of Indonesian fans.

Among the soccer spectators were senior politicians, top government officials and cabinet members, such as Golkar Party leader Abu Rizal Bakrie and Democrat Party leader Anas Urbaningrum.

Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Marzuki Alie, Chairman of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Irman Gusman, and Coordinating Minister for Social Welfare Agung Laksono were also seen at the honorary seats.

The AFF committee decided that the two legs of Indonesia-the Philippines’ semifinal were all held at Bung Karno soccer stadium because the AFF regarded the Philippines’ soccer stadium to have failed to meet its standard.
