Design of Indonesian Hospital in Gaza Handed over

Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - The Indonesian Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) has handed over the design of the Indonesian hospital in Gaza Strip to the Health Ministry of Palestine.

"MER-C volunteer M Baagil which is now in Gaza has officially handed over the hospital’s design to the Palestinian health ministry, indicating that the hospital will soon be built," MER-C Indonesia Presidium chairman Sarbini Abdul Murad said.

He said that the hospital’s design was passed on to the Palestinian Health Ministry on August 18, 2010, one day after Indonesia celebrated its 65th Independence Day anniversary celebrations on August 17.

"We hope that the anniversary celebrations would help foster Indonesia-Palestine solidarity," he said.

Three MER-C’s volunteers, namely Abdillah Onim, Nur Ikhwan Abadi and M Baagil, succeeded in organizing the 65th anniversary celebrations in a small town in the Gaza Strip which is often affected by wars and whose people are living under Israeli blockade.
