Indonesia Offered to Host Youth Olympiad

Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - Indonesia has been offered to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2018, informed sources said. The offer was made by IOC President Jackques Rogge to the chairwoman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Rita Subowo on the sidelines of a function to welcome participants of the first Olympic Games at the Singapore Presidential Palace on Saturday.

KONI sources said here on Saturday the offer was directly made by Rogge to Rita Subowo. Rita is an active member of the IOC. Both Rita and Rogge were attending the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. A total of 205 National Olympic Committee chairmen and members of the IOC were received by Singapore President S. R. Nathan.

"If you are interested, please submit a proposal we will respond to it. I am convinced your country can host the event," Rogge was quoted by Rita as saying.

The second Youth Olympic Games in 2014 would be held in the Asian continent, namely Nanjing, China.

"I think it would be impossible for the Youth Olympic Games to be held consecutively three times in Asia," she said. Antara
