Indonesian Stocks Close Higher on Regional Bourse Gains




Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - The Composite Stock Price Index at the Indonesian Stock Exchange closed higher here Monday noon on regional bourse gains. The JKSE rose 26.506 points or 0.90 percent to 2,70.402 and the LQ45 index gained 5.934 points or 1.04 percent to 575.881 points.

"The Jakarta’s Composite Stock Price Index is within the buying territory, following gains in regional bourses," Ahmad Riyadi, a capital market analyst of PT Millennium Danatama Securities, said, here, Monday.

Indonesia’s sound macro economic condition, which was well guarded, encouraged foreign investors to invest in the country, he said. The Indonesian stock market recorded 56,194 transactions involving 2.522 billion shares worth Rp1.486 trillion. Some 104 stocks gained, 81 others lost and 68 stocks remained static.

In the regional bourses, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 137.41 points or 0.67 percent to the level of 20,516.07, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index slightly dropped 5.01 points or 0.05 percent to 9,580.32, and Singapore’s Straits Times index climbed 7.93 points or 0.27 percent to 2,925.18.

Meanwhile in the opening trading session, Monday morning, the Composite Stock Price Index at the Indonesian Stock Exchange got off to a strong start on high share-buying activity by foreign investors.

The JKSE index went up 12.844 points or 0.45 percent to 2,950.236 points, and the LQ-45 index rose 3.426 points or 0.60 percent to 573.109 points. Among top gainers at the Indonesian bourse were state bank BRI shares that went up Rp150 to Rp9,300, private Bank Danamon shares surged Rp150 to Rp5,450, Bank Mandiri shares climbed Rp150 to Rp9,400, and private bank BCA added Rp100 to Rp9,400, state owned BNI rose Rp50 to Rp2,575.

State telecommunication company Telkom shares went up Rp50 to Rp7,800, Mayora shares advanced Rp200 to Rp7,450, and state gas company PT P Gas increased Rp50 to Rp18,600 per share.
