Special World Cup Menus in Bandung Hotels




Bandung (News Today) - A number of hotels in Bandung, West Java, use the momentum of the 2010 World Cup for gaining profits by preparing special menus for soccer enthusiasts. One of the hotels, Holiday Inn, offered a list of menus called "World Cup Euphoria" for the duration of the prestigious soccer competition.

"We have prepared what we call ’the food and beverage during 2010 World Cup’," Director of Holiday Inn’s Food and Beverage Koko Bayu Baskoro said here Saturday.

The food menus were named in accordance with each of national teams competing in the World Cup, such as the Azzurri package and Bafana package, he said.

"The Azzurri is picked up to represent Italy, while Bafana represents the soccer team of South Africa, the 2010 World Cup’s host," he said.

For the World Cup enthusiasts, Baskoro said his hotel offered them the Vietnamese spring roll mixed with Indonesian taste while watching the games on TV at the hotel’s Braga Bar and Lounge. Executive Assistant Manager of Holiday Inn Bandung, Leni Yuliyati, said the Braga Bar and Lounge had been furnished with big flat screen TV sets.

The World Cup was officially opened on Friday (June 11) and will end on July 11. The popular fervor about the World Cup tournament was also felt at hotels in the Indonesian resort island of Bali. Aston Hotel’s spokesperson Adinda Ashrinintya said her hotel had also prepared special food menus for World Cup enthusiasts.

"We have prepared menus consisting of such dishes as ’Kick Off Fries’, ’Corner Kick Spicy Wing’, ’Long Throw Samosa & Spring Roll’, ’Free Kick Sandwich’ and ’Penalty Stuffing French Bread’," she said. For Rp35,000, hotel guests could choose one of the menus while watching the World Cup games at the hotel’s Jempiring restaurant, she said.

The ongoing World Cup is participated in by 32 teams. They consist of the teams of Australia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Algeria, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. Then the teams of Honduras, Mexico, United States, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, New Zealand, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland.
