Indonesia Military Chopper Had Emergency Landing

Kupang, Indonesia (News Today) - A military helicopter carrying East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Governor Frans Lebu Raya was forced to make an emergency landing at Benlutu, Timor Tengah Selatan district, on Friday.

The governor was in the helicopter on his way to Timor Tengah Selatan district where he was to install East Nusa Tenggara regional secretary Fransiskus Salem as the traditional "king" of Noemoti when bad weather forced the aircraft to land.

Earlier, on Thursday, in Denpasar, Bali, Udayana Military Command Chief Maj. Gen. Rachmat Budiyanto was almost killed when the plane he was flying in suddenly lost altitude and crashed after one of its wings brushed that of another aircaft. The two-star general escaped unhurt because he and the pilot were able to exit the two-seat Russian-made trainer in time by parachute.
