Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan said at hearing with the House of Representatives’ Commission VII here on Monday Pertamax production from the company’s refineries currently stood at 0.45 million kiloliters per year.
"We plan to increase the Pertamax production to 8.36 million kiloliters in 2017," she said.
The plan to raise the Pertamax production is in line with the government’s plan to limit the use of subsidized fuels expected to increase Pertamax consumption. The plan is scheduled to be implemented in and around Jakarta starting in April 2011 and in Java and Bali in July 2011.
Karen said Pertamina would use the Rp25 trillion in funds to raise the Pertamax production of its three refineries, namely Refinery Unit III in Balongan, West Java, Refinery Unit IV in Cilacap, Central Java, and Refinery Unit V in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
She said the Refinery Unit III was expected to increase its Pertamax production by 2.3 thousand barrel per day starting in the third quarter of 2013. The Pertamax production of the Refinery Unit IV was projected to increase by 62 thousand barrels a day starting in May 2014, she said.
"Meanwhile, the Pertamax production of the Refinery Unit V is expected to increase by 23 thousand barrels a day starting from the first quarter of 2017," she said.
She said the gasoline production of the company’s refineries this year was projected to reach 11.1 million kiloliters consisting of 0.46 million kiloliters of Pertama and 10.64 million kiloliters of subsidized gasoline Premium. But in 2017 the Pertamax production would increase to 8.36 million kiloliters and Premium production would fall to 4.78 million kiloliters.
The company had set a target of Pertamax and Premium imports for this year at 4.23 million kiloliters and 10.28 million kiloliters each, she said. In 2011, the Pertamax production of the company’s refineries was expected to reach 0.46 million kiloliters and Premium 10.58 million kiloliters.
