Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - The value of transactions at the Jakarta Stock Exchange (BEI) in 2010 reached Rp1,249.27 trillion or 28.10 percent more than Rp975.21 trillion in 2009, Fuad Rahmany said. The chief of the Financial Institution and Capital Market Supervisory Board (Bapepam-LK) said here on Thursday, in line with the rise of the Composite Share Price Index (IHSG) the value of capitalization of the BEI share market has also increased by 60.63 percent.
"In 2009 the value of market capitalization was recorded at Rp2,019.38 trillion and it rose to Rp3,243.77 trillion by the end of this year," he said. He said the Indonesia stock exchange had been able to function as a supplier of capital to move the real sector and also for the government as an issuer. According to him, the value of average daily transactions rose from Rp4.05 trillion in 2009 to Rp5.12 trillion in 2010.
"Based on the net worth of transactions by foreign investors in 2009 there have been significant inflows of capital during 2010," he said.
He added net inflow of foreign capital in 2009 was recorded at Rp13.78 trillion. It had increased significantly to Rp26.47 trillion in 2010, he said.
