Indonesia Happy So Far with BlackBerry Porn Filter

Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - Indonesia’s information minister says he’s happy so far with BlackBerry’s efforts to filter pornography from its smartphones in the world’s most populous Muslim nation. Among the websites no longer visible are Playboy and many other porn websites.

BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion Ltd. agreed earlier this week to filter out porn in the nation of 237 million by Friday after the government threatened to revoke its operating license here. Indonesia says RIM earns about $251 million per year from the country’s 3 million BlackBerry users.

Tifatul Sembiring, a conservative Muslim minister who has spearheaded the filtering demands, told followers on his Tweeter site Thursday he was happy so far with the company’s efforts.
