Yogyakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said mastery and use of technology is one of the keys to promoting the people’s welfare and prosperity.
"In this respect, the National Efficient Technology Expo (TTG) 2010 will hopefully be able to encourage it (mastery and use of technology)," the President said in his address at the opening of the expo at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC) here on Wednesday.
"This event’s theme ’The Use of Efficient Technology to Realize the People’s Welfare’ is very relevant to our efforts to encourage the role of technology as a key to promoting the people’s prosperity and welfare," he said in his address read out by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Radjasa.
He said the mastery and use of technology could support national transformation particularly with regard to the country’s economic development policy and strategy to improve the people’s prosperity and welfare. In addition, it would also increase the self-reliance and competitive edge of the nation and lay firm foundation to the national development, he said.
"The TTG Expo is imperative because it displays a wide range of products which have competitive advantage according to the present social, economic and environmental conditions. It is also useful to support the community empowerment program," he said.
The three-day expo is participated in by 386 outlets from provincial, district and city government, companies and institutes of higher learning across Indonesia.
