Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta (News Today) - Motorcycles have dominated traffic along Yogyakarta-Purworejo route, with at least 19.053 motorbikes passed the area last Friday and Saturday.
"Some 19,053 motorbikes passed this route, while there were also 9,085 private cars, 747 public buses, and 156 rural minibuses," Suparlan of the Kulon Progo communication and information office, said here Monday.
Between 6 and 7 am local time, which was the peak hour, about 889 motorcycles passed the route, and between 4 and 5 pm, there were around 880 motorcycles per hour.
He expected the massive exodus would reach the peak on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Idul Fitri Islamic Festivity will fall on Friday.
