Yogyakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - The number of tourists and travelers increased in food stalls selling various Yogyakarta traditional food in order to buy snacks and food as souvenirs, said Joko, owner of a food stall in Yogyakarta Tuesday. Joko, who has a food stall near Adisucipto International Airport Yogyakarta said the number of buyers Tuesday was higher than in ordinary days.
"Every year, after Idul Fitri celebration, requests of traditional foods from Yogyakarta increased. The traditional foods are brought as souvenirs by tourists and travelers who wanted to go back to places of work," he said.
However, in Lebaran 2010, the demand for traditional foods in Yogyakarta decreased than last year.
"This year, the number of consumers is less," he added.
He mentioned he sold various Yogyakarta snacks, such as yangko, bakpia and geplak. Their prices had been been raised this Lebaran.
"Bakpia sells at Rp15,000 to Rp23,000 per carton of ten pieces. While yangko sells at Rp10,000 per carton of ten yangkos," he explained.
According to him, bakpia with different tastes is the most favorite snack for most people.
"The bakpia I sell, this Lebaran, can be sold up to 100 cartons per day. It is usually sold between 40 until 50 cartons per day," he said.
Joko added he got Rp4 million in profit per day last year and until three days after Lebaran, he got Rp2.6 million per day. Meanwhile, other Yogyakarta traditional food seller, Anik, said the demand for Yogyakarta snacks is less than last year’s Lebaran.
