Indonesia to Send Bodies of Russian Jet Techs Home




Makasar, Indonesia (News Today) - Officials say the bodies of three Russian technicians who died while in Indonesia working on a fighter jet program will be repatriated Friday.

Police Brig. Gen. Musaddeq Ishaq says methanol poisoning was the most likely cause of death, with potentially lethal traces found in their kidneys, stomachs, livers and lungs. Officials said experts were testing liquor and medicine found in their rooms.

ussian Embassy officials have said foul play was not suspected. The three technicians were part of a 12-member team assigned to Hasanuddin Air Base in South Sulawesi’s capital, Makassar, to help assemble recently purchased Sukhoi fighter jets for the Indonesian Air Force.

Rear Marshal Agus Supriatna says their bodies will be sent home Friday.
