Extra Traffic Signs Placed for Lebaran Holiday Travelers

Sukabumi, Indonesia (News Today) - Police in Sukabumi, West Java, have placed extra traffic signs for Lebaran holiday travelers in anticipation of traffic accidents. Sukabumi traffic police spokesman Adjunct Commissioner Yayan Sopiyan said here on Sunday that the extra traffic signs were placed at traffic-accident prone areas.

"The additional traffic signs are expected to help returning holiday travelers drive more carefully in order to arrive at their respective destinations safely," Yayan Sopiyan said.

He said the signs would also recommend the holiday travelers on their private cars to take alternative road in case of a traffic jam ahead. Traffic jams, according to Yayan, frequently occurred at a number of points in Sukabumi such as Cicurug and Cibadak sub-districts. He added that the traffic signs had also been erected at the start of alternative roads.

"The signs are placed there to anticipate traffic accidents," Yayan said, calling on the returning holiday travelers using Sukabumi road to be more careful.

Besides the extra traffic signs, Sukabumi police had also provided a number of resting areas.

"If the travelers get tired, they should not force themselves to go on traveling, but get some rest and check the condition of their vehicles," Yayan said.
