Ambon, Indonesia (News Today) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono finally left for Ternate, North Maluku, from Ambon after their trip was delayed for an hour due to bad weather at Pattimura airport.
The presidential plane took off from the airport at 2.3 pm Eastern Indonesian Standard Time (WIT) and headed owards Sultan Baabullah airport in Ternate for a one day visit until Wednesday. Earlier, Presidential Spokesman Julian Aldrian Pasha said the president’s departure was delayed due to bad weather as confirmed by the local airport authority.
"The airport authority reported that the weather around the airport was still bad for a flight," Julian told ANTARA at Pattiumra airport.
According to information gathered by ANTARA, visibility at the airport was only 2,000 meters or far below the required 4,000 meters for a VIP flight.
