Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - A moderate 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the coast of Indonesia’s main island of Java on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said, but no tsunami warning was issued.
The quake struck at 2:10 am (1910 GMT Wednesday), 69 kilometres (43 miles) southeast of Sukabumi and at a depth of 33 kilometres, according to the agency.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific “ring of fire”, where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
