Jakarta Stocks Hit Highest Record




Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - The Composite Stock Price Index at the Indonesian Stock Exchange hit the highest recorded at the market’s close here Friday noon on Asian bourse gains. The JKSE index rose 1.22 percent or 36.66 points to 3,046.59 points, and the LQ-45 index went up 1.36 percent or 7.935 points to 590.125 points.

Gains on regional and global bourses boosted positive sentiments to the JKSE index, according to Ahmad Riyadi, a capital market analyst of PT Millennium Danatama Securities. Of the total actively traded stocks, 122 stocks gained, 61 lost, and 78 others remained static.

The Indonesian bourse recorded 67,874 transactions, involving 2.667 billion shares, worth Rp2.245 trillion. On the Asian bourses, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 224.90 points or 1.09 percent to 20,814, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index climbed 211.89 points or 0.17 percent to 9,432 and Singapore’s Straits Times index jumped 17.04 points or 0.58 percent to 2,972 points.

In the opening trading session early Friday, the Jakarta Composite Stock Price Index got off to a strong start. The index advanced 24.403 points to 3,023.916 points and the LQ-45 index climbed 0.96 percent or 9.710 points to 588.989 points.

Meanwhile, the rupiah, Indonesia’s currency, traded Rp9,050-Rp9,060 per US dollar, down 10 points from Rp9,040-Rp9,050 points.
