Foreign Investment in Indonesia up over 40 Percent

Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - Actual investment by foreign and local investors increased over 40% on year during the second quarter, accelerating from the 25% on-year increase posted in the January-April period, a government official said Monday.

“This is good“ as we have set a 15% growth target for actual investment for the entire year, said Gita Wirjawan, chairman of the official investment board.

Foreign investors started to look at Indonesia again after President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won a second five-year term last year. International ratings agencies have also upgraded Indonesia's credit worthiness, causing a surge of fund inflows into local assets.
