Your comments on the fragile security of our children as shown by the killing and sexual harassment against a number of children by a man, whose case is under police investigation.
Children should be more protected by the law. Anyone who has killed, abused or sexually abused children is evil! Send them back to hell.

I think parents have to take control of their children. They should know the friends of their children and their activities outside their houses.

Children’s security! What children’s security? We don’t have any. Just look back at the way the children caught at the airport last year were treated as criminals by people in authority at the airport, the police station and the courts. What was their crime?
Now think of the millions begging, scavenging, etc. In Indonesia no one really cares about them.

It shows how poor our government’s concern is to provide better welfare and protection for our children. It is ironic to see some children enjoying their education in top quality schools, while the others are struggling for life in the street and are vulnerable to physical and sexual abuse.
I used to be a volunteer at a shelter in Cipinang, East Jakarta. I saw a boy who tended to withdraw from the others and his friend told me that he had been sexually abused.
The Jakarta local government and police only launch raids on them but they forget that those poor kids are victims of our government’s failure to provide better welfare and education.
Provide our children with proper education, healthcare and welfare. Those street children are also our nation’s assets and they are entitled to explore their talents and have a better life.

Unfortunately, children are generally brought up not as individuals but rather as possessions and
are taught to obey adults without question.
This makes it very difficult for them to discourage unwanted sexual attention. Parents should teach young children about the dangers and that they have the right to say no to anyone.

Our children’s fragile security is caused by our carelessness and indifference of them. We should provide them with care and give them a chance in life. Our large archipelago is in need of every single hand available to manage it.

Yes, it’s true how fragile our children’s security is. This is true not only in Indonesia, but also in other countries. So this is a world problem that we have to work together to overcome.
