A Boeing 737-200 operated by Sriwijaya Air skidded off the runway at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang on Wednesday after it tore its front wheels upon a return to base (RTB).
Risky, an airport duty desk officer, told The Jakarta Post the plane took off for Medan at 12:35 but returned to the base at 13:52 after developing a problem with its hydraulic system.
None of the 136 people on board were injured in the accident, the second within the last two weeks. Passengers were evacuated to a room, waiting for another flight to take them to Padang in West Sumatra and Medan in North Sumatra.
Airport authorities closed the runway temporarily to allow workers to tug the plane to the hanger. Flight schedules were unaffected as other planes were asked to take off and land on runway 8.
Risky suspected hard landing was accident’s cause.

Spokesman for state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II Trisno Heryadi said the National Committee for Transportation Safety would launch an investigation to find out the cause of the accident.
