Century Scandal : Golkar finds 58 violations on Century case, PKS only 18

(News Terupdate) - The Golkar Party has found 58 violations in the controversial Bank Century bailout, based on data and testimonies it compiled during the House of Representatives’ inquiry into the case.

“We have begun analyzing the facts. We have so far found at least 58 violations circulating the Century case,” Golkar House inquiry committee member Bambang Soesatyo said Thursday.

Golkar compiled data and testimonies taken during the investigation of House of Representatives’ inquiry team’s on Century’s Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million) bailout case, kicked off in December last year.

The violations were found in the process of the merger of Bank CIC, Bank Danpac and Bank Pikko to form Bank Century in 2004, the disbursement of Rp 689 billion in Short Term Liquidity Assistance (FPJP) from Bank Indonesia in November 2008 and the disbursement of Rp 6.76 trillion in bailout funds for Century.

The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) discovered nine violations in its investigative audit of the bailout process.

“The conclusions were made based on facts and documents. We are not discrediting any party, in line with the order from Golkar chairman Aburizal Bakrie,” Bambang said.

The Prosperous and Justice Party (PKS), meanwhile, spotted 18 offenses.

PKS member Andi Rachmat said that half of the violations were indicated as corruption, while the rest were general and bank-related crimes.

“Most offenses indicated as graft took place during the FPJP and bailout disbursements,” he said.
