EARTHQUAKE SHAKES CILACAP and YOGYAKARTA, CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA




(News Terupdate) - Yogyakarta, Jan. 28 - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted southeast Wonosari, Yogyakarta, here on Thursday, at 3.39 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

The earthquake`s epicenter was located 8.96 degrees southern latitude and 110.89 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 17 km, and 115 km southeast of Wonosari.

Earlier at 2 am WIB, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake shook Dili, Timor Leste, at the epicenter of 7.23 degrees southern latitude, and 125.13 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 529 km.

Both temblors did not have potential to trigger tsunami.


MODERATE QUAKE HITS CENTRAL JAVA

Bandarlampung, Jan 28 (ANTARA) - A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck Cilacap, Central Java, on Thursday at 11.01 west Indonesia standard time (WIB).

According to information from the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the temblor had its epicenter 9.62 degrees southern longitude and 108.80 degrees eastern latitude, 212 kilometers southwest Cilacap at a depth of 10 kilometers.
