Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - United States Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Patrick M Walsh arrived in Jakarta on Monday for a two-day visit in Indonesia. Soon after arriving at Halim Perdanakusuma airport, Patrick immediately had a closed door meeting with Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Chief Admiral Agus Suhartono."The meeting was held at the VVIP room of Halim Perdanakusuma Base Operations," TNI spokesman Rear Admiral Iskandar Sitompul told Antara here.
Iskandar Sitompul said that besides the meeting with the TNI chief, the US Pacific Fleet commander was also scheduled to have a similar meeting with Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Soeparno. According to him, the talks in the meeting would be focused on evaluation of defense and military cooperation between Indonesia and the United States.
Iskandar added that efforts to increase the relations between the two parties in line with regional strategic environmental development would also be discussed in the meeting. The US Pacific Fleet Command had built various cooperation activities with a number of Asia-Pacific countries including Indonesia on the basis of mutual trust and understanding.
