What Malaysia Expects from Its Investment in S Sulawesi




Bantaeng (News Today) - Malaysian private circles had a serious wish to help realize the program on a New Bantaeng in Bantaeng regency, S Sulawesi province. The seriousness was expressed during a return visit of Malaysian businessmen to Bantaeng, Tuesday, during which they visited various strategic projects which would change the face of Bantaeng city, and may raise the welfare of the people.

The Malaysian businesspeople present on the occasion were General Manager of Sungai Long Industries SDN. BHD Ooi Tat Lean. B. Eng, Director of PT Techniteam Indonesia Sera Edy, Assistant General Manager, Contracts Bina Puri Construction SDN. BHD, Timothy Chong Meow Fong and Chief Operating Officer (Operations) of Bina Puri Construction SDN. BHD, Ir H Azhar Mohd Ali B. Eng (Civil) UTM, MSc (Highway) UK P.Eng, and Rudy Chandra, Project Manager PT Techniteam Indonesia.

While in Bantaeng, the Malaysian businessmen from the Bina Puri group inspected the result of reclamation, and the condition of Mattoanging port which will be developed. From the port, the group along with Bantaeng Regent HM Nurdin Abdullah, head of Regional Development Board H Zainuddin Tahir, head of the local Public Works agency Asryad Borahima, head of regional income and asset management HM Yasin, and a number of other officials of the Bantaeng regency administration, are inspecting the planned coastal road from the port to Bantaeng city.

The Malaysian businessmen also visited the development of the Marina Korong Batu Marina Beach tourist resort and the potential of the water stream of Bialo river which may generate electricity. Head of the local regional development planning board H Zainuddin Tahir said result of a study shows that the capacity of the water stream had reached 75 meters, which may be raised to more than 100 meters.

"We will discuss the economic and social aspects so that the water resources will not only produce electricity but also other benefits in the interest of the local population," Zainuddin Tahir said adding that the visit of the team from Malaysia’s Bina Puri is a return visit for the signing of an MoU in Malaysian some time ago.
