Pamela Anderson Too Sexy to be in Canada

(News Today) - Pamela Anderson flew into Montreal yesterday all set to unviel her new ad campaign for animal rights group, PETA. But the ex-Baywatch beauty learnt at the last minute that the required permit had been refused by local officials, who branded the ad 'sexist'.

The ad, which was due to be revealed outside of Montréal's Place Jaques-Cartier will now be unveiled at Restaurant Globe Thursday morning as part of a news conference for the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival which Anderson is hosting.

Canadian born Anderson was shocked by the ban decision, saying: 'In a city that is known for it's exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that a woman would be banned from using her own body in a political protest.

'In some parts of the world women are forced to cover their whole bodies with burqas- is that next? I didn't think Canada would be so puritanical.'

And PETA's senior Vice President, Dan Matthews weighed in: 'I think that city officials are looking at this lovely ad and confusing "sexy" with "sexist". In the ad Anderson's nearly naked body, clad in just a teeny tiny bikini, is covered in paint markings that mimic a butcher's diagram.

Her flesh is marked 'breast', 'ribs' and 'rump' and the caption reads 'All animals have the same parts. Have a heart, go vegetarian.'

A City spokesman informed PETA of their decision, saying in a statement: 'I have to inform you that we, as public officials representing a municipal government can not endorse this image of Ms. Anderson.

'It is not so much controversial as it goes against all principles public organizations are fighting for in the everlasting battle of equality between men and women.'

Anderson is a long time PETA activist and spokesperson, having appeared in numerous campaigns over the years.

She became a vegetarian in her teens after she saw her father cleaning out an animal he had hunted and killed.

Anderson regularly campaigns against fur, in 1999 she recieved the first Linda McCartney Memorial Award for animal rights protectors in recognition of her work.

She has also campaigned against fast food giant Kentucky Fried Chicken and against seal hunting in Canada.

In addition to her animal rights activism Anderson is also a spokesmodel for MAC Cosmetics MAC AIDS Fund, which helps people affected by AIDS and HIV.
