Jakarta, Indonesia (News Today) - Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said he will always adhere to presumption of innocence principles to rid the tax directorate general of corrupt officials in an effort to create good and clean governance.
"I will always stick to presumption of innocence principles," he told the press at the vice presidential palace here on Tuesday.
He said he would not be selective in imposing sanctions on his subordinates found guilty of violating the law.
"In principle, I will not be selective but will always prioritize presumption of innocence principles," he said.
He said stern measures had been imposed on tax officers involved in a number of tax fraud cases and a team of officials from the inspectorate general at the finance ministry continued to examine those believed to have been involved in the cases.
